Built for Wells Fargo in 1909 and later converted for use by the Rossi Cigar Company, the latest reincarnation of the building at 1411 Center Street in West Oakland is as a live/work loft development.
With a fresh coat of red and white paint covering the original brick facade and a refurbished Rossi Cigar Company sign, the Cigar Factory Lofts retain the authentic character of the building’s exterior. Inside, the conversion has created seven contemporary live/work units with exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and open ductwork.
While the structural exposure and open floor plans of the lofts at 1411 Center Street provide the industrial vibe of authentic loft living, the units are nicely finished with clean lines and modern amenities. Kitchens are fitted with natural stone countertops, cherry cabinetry, and energy efficient stainless steel appliances. Each loft has hardwood flooring throughout, and all second-story units have glass skylights. Most units have deeded parking, and the lobby of the Cigar Factory Lofts has an inside bicycle parking area.
