The Fifth Avenue School Lofts project is the region’s latest historic renovation and reuse of a classic Pittsburgh school. Located mid-way between Pittsburgh’s Downtown and Oakland employment centers, the high school served Pittsburgh’s city neighborhoods for more than 80 years before closing in the late 1970’s.
Following decades of neglect, the 100,000 square foot Romanesque/Gothic Revival style architectural gem is being brought back to life by a small group of investors and Impakt Development, a local real estate development company. The project will open in the latter half of 2012 as a unique 65 unit loft-style rental apartment building with all the amenities expected in an upscale modern living space. The project will include adjacent secure parking, exercise and bike locker rooms, easy access to public transit, and will be within a short walk to many of the region’s top entertainment attractions.
